Latest Newsletter, Summer 2017

Dear supporters,

We hope that you are having a great summer!  We would like to update you on the news from The Ideas Partnership in this quarter. Please find below a glimpse on what our volunteers, staff with the help of our donors have achieved.

Donors’ Feedback
“I like to see progress to people who haven’t had a chance in society to do so and see the positive results when they have a chance to better their lives.”
“Firstly, it seems as a reliable organization and transparent. The staff seems dedicated because their work yields results and makes changes to the lives of people. Roma community especially needs more support because unfortunately, this community is quite marginalized.
“Giving this previously disenfranchised community the tools to support themselves is the greatest gift TIP can give.”
“I know from experience that the money that I give to TIP is used in an hands-on and effective way, funding actions that are concrete, and target the people most in need.”

International Children’s Day celebration

In celebration of International Children’s day on June 1st, The Ideas Partnership volunteers and staff put on a festival in Janjeva and Fushe Kosove. Local children had a wonderful time playing games, making crafts, and getting face paint!

The Girl’s Club The Girl’s Club is continuing to educate young girls in Fushe Kosove about gender issues in Kosovo. We were honored that Mr Nazmi Rama from the Kosovo Police spoke to the girls about Domestic Violence and how the police are combating it.

Mileniumi i Trete Bake Sale

Students from Mileniumi i Trete, with their parents and teachers, set up a booth in Prishtine selling sweets and baked goods, and they donated all the proceeds to the Kindergarten in Fushe Kosove. The Ideas Partnership centre in Fushe Kosove runs the only Kindergarten in the neighbourhood, and these students helped to make it possible!

Fushe Kosove Library

Thanks to donations from Mounts Bay Rotary Club, the centre in Fushe Kosove has a new library! To encourage summer reading, the child who borrows and writes a short review for the most books will receive a beautiful handmade notebook. The library will be available to all the children that participate in the activities in Fushe Kosove and this makes for a great opportunity for the children to spend their summer holidays in the company of a book.

Visitors from Amsterdam University College (AUC)  Students from Amsterdam University College visited the Fushe Kosove centre to help with the Saturday activities! Not only were they able to meet with members of the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities in Fushe Kosove, but to the delight of our students they taught and led activities in our English classes.
